The Magpies' very first open training session at Hisense Arena was a huge success. Friday 2 December saw around 400 people attend, many wearing the black and white.
This was an event that our Magpies were truly excited about as it would be their first opportunity to meet the fans as a whole team and to have both side by side. It was also a chance for our girls to show off just how hard they have been working in preparation for their team debut in 2017.
Mid-courter, Ash Brazill was overjoyed: “to see that number of people at a new club is just amazing for us.”
The training session began with some warm up and stretching, before moving on to some general fitness and technique drills. Our Magpies also displayed their ball skills, as well as a fun game of dodge ball, which the fans absolutely loved.
Training at Hisense also set the feeling for the team and the environment that they will debut in. Even though many of our players have played on the Hisense previously in the ANZ Championships, it will be a new experience for all players as a Magpie and also for the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball competition.
Following the session, our fans had the opportunity to meet and greet players in a signing session. It is evident that both our Magpies and supporters share so much excitement and look forward to the 2017 season.
Brazill noted this was a great opportunity to, “meet all the true die hard Collingwood fans. I feel like I’m already one of them.”
The afternoon concluded with a player family and friends function back at the Glasshouse Eatery. This gave the family and friends of our girls the chance to get to know one another and build that family vibe around the club.
