The Tasmanian Magpies are on the road to Bendigo this weekend to take on Western Sting in Round 4 of the Deakin University Australian Netball League (DUNAL).

After a split result on home soil in Tassie last weekend, the team will be looking for two strong outings.

Newcomer Ash Probert-Hill said it was good to get the win in game 1, but unfortunately we weren’t able to continue that on day 2.

“I think the groups biggest learning was not to become complacent and to expect that every game is different; that the opposition are going to come with a different line up, a lot more intensity and something to prove in that second game.”

Probert-Hill joins the Tasmanian Magpies setup this year, after working her way through the full Tasmanian athlete pathway.

“I’m loving my involvement with the Tassie Magpies this year. Having the opportunity to learn week in and week out and play against tough opposition is amazing and very rewarding” she said.

Despite having only recorded the one win so far this season, the Sting are no foreigners to success in the ANL competition, taking out the premiership last in 2017.

“They [Western Sting] have always been a tough team with a good team ethic” said Probert-Hill.

“They like quick ball movement and a physical contest, so making sure we disrupt that will be key.”

The Tassie Magpies are focused and ready to hit the halfway mark of the competition this weekend.

“Our focus this week will be continuing to nail our on-court connections, full court pressure and composure” mentioned Probert-Hill.

“We need to focus on our attention on our game plan and make sure we stick to structures.”

“We have talked about being clinical when attacking, so really making sure we execute that.”

The first match of the weekend will follow the Collingwood Magpies verse West Coast Fever blockbuster match in Bendigo, with the Pies having already visited Bendigo for a pre-season match earlier this year.
